The Andara™ OFS™ (Oscillating Field Stimulator) Therapy is being developed to stimulate the repair of nerves to restore sensation and motor function in people with paralysis due to spinal cord injury or other types of nerve damage, including peripheral nerve injury. Cyberkinetics has obtained Humanitarian Use Device designation and submitted a Humanitarian Device Exemption (HDE) to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its Andara™ OFS™ System. If approved, Cyberkinetics Andara™ OFS™ System will be the first commercially available neurotechnology device designed to partially restore sensation and motor function in acute spinal cord injuries by stimulating nerve repair. The Andara™ OFS™ PLUS™ System is currently in preclinical testing and is being designed to be used in combination with a growth factor to treat people with chronic (months- to years-old) injuries resulting from a wide range of central nervous system and peripheral nervous system injuries.

The BrainGate Neural Interface System is an investigational medical device that is being developed to improve the quality of life for physically disabled people by allowing them to quickly and reliably control a wide range of devices including computers, environmental controls, robotics and medical devices.

The NeuroPort™ System is a medical device based on the neural interface technology used in the BrainGate System, is already cleared to market in the United States (510-k), and is intended for temporary (< 30 days) recording and monitoring of brain electrical activity. A pilot study of the NeuroPort™ System in the detection and prediction of seizures due to epilepsy is currently underway at the Columbia University Medical Center in New York City.
